HUNTSVILLE, AL — Secretary of State Beth Chapman issued a news release today warning Madison County voters not to fall for a morning radio spoof that told voters in Senate District 7 that one candidate's voters weren't to turn out until Wednesday because of “expected heavy turnout.”
*Note Beth must not have gotten the radio spoof spin until later.
Let's nip the “Paul Sanford didn't know anything about it and didn't have anything to do with it” spin in the bud. radio boy was a vocal and highly visible supportor of Paul Sanford who reached a wide audience not only through his radio show but his blog, and I would like to remind everyone of the criticism President Obama recieved from radio boy and other righty's because he “sat in a church for 20 years and palled around with terrorist” meme. Paul Sanford palled around with radio boy. They can dish out the “satire” but they can't take it;
The Democrats are going to try to take Dale’s scalp for his stunt – but the joke’s on them – Dale shaves his head. Seriously, Dale may be in trouble a bit and he’s probably got some explaining to do. Secretary of State Beth Chapman’s office seems to have overreacted to the stunt by issuing their alarmist Press Release.
Good for Dale Jackson for standing up for free speech – satire is speech.
Let's nip the “it didn't influence the outcome of the election” spin in the bud. We don't know if it influenced the outcome of the election or not because we don't know how many people recieved the email or the flyer and how many people believed the email or the flyer was authentic because the Alabama STATE SEAL was on the press release. On one hand radio boy ask how could people be stupid enough to beleive it was the the truth then he turns arounds and admited listeners called and asked if it were true;
Jackson also read the release on his radio show, but did tell people who called in having believed the story that he was just joking. He pointed out that Marion Barber is a running back for the Dallas Cowboys.
Jackson said Tuesday that if people were dumb enough to fall for his stunt and didn't turn out to vote today, it was their own fault.
*Note, the Alabama State Seal was real and who knew Marion Barber is a running back for the Dallas Cowboys?
what melmel said;
A crime has been committedHere is my understanding. If he acted alone then the State of Alabama needs to step in and prosecute. If he acted in concert with others who then this becomes a federal crime. If he didn't write/create the piece alone then probably others are involved and it becomes a group effort to election tamper.
Yes mooncat, I am outraged about this, but do I have faith the “proper authorities” will do anything about this? Nope. Thank you for providing the contact information. I don't have much faith in the republican proper authorties but I emailed all of them, and I encourage others who care about fair and free elections to do the same. Although they are all republicans they took an oath to protect and defend the rights and freedoms of all of us regardless of race, creed, gender, religion or party.
Let's nip this is in the bud.
