My name is Patrick Doyle, and I am asking for you to vote for me and my wife, Jessie Doyle, to represent North Alabama (CD-05) as delegates committed to Bernie Sanders. In 2016, I had the honor to be elected as a Sanders delegate, and I hope to return to Democratic National Convention in 2020. With your help, our vote will make Bernie Sanders the Democratic nominee, and the next President of the United States.
I have lived in North Alabama for all of my 28 years. Throughout my life, Alabama has only gotten redder and the Democratic party has dwindled. I hope to see that change in my lifetime — to see progressive policies improve the lives of my neighbors, friends, and family. Bernie Sanders often says, “Not me. Us.”
To me, those words mean that Democrats can win in Alabama when more people get involved in the political process. Bernie is the only candidate that talks about being an “organizer-in-chief” and creating a grassroots political revolution that will energize and engage the American people. Only when we come together as a nation, can we take on the corporations and special interests, get big money out of politics, and save our democracy.
I believe in the political revolution because I’ve experienced it first-hand. Before I first learned of Senator Bernie Sanders in 2015, I was largely indifferent when it came to politics; convinced as so many people are that “all politicians are the same.”
I did my research, and quickly came to find out that Bernie Sanders was the exception: a statesman who is passionate about improving the lives of everyday people — one who has been consistently fighting for progressive change in Congress for literally my entire life (and then some). Whether it’s climate change; universal healthcare; tuition-free public college; criminal justice reform; a $15 minimum wage; rights for women, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities; racial justice; or any number of policies Bernie is campaigning on now, you can be sure he means what he says because he’s been fighting for it his entire career.
Inspired by Bernie Sanders and the call for a political revolution, I transformed from a disinterested bystander to grassroots organizer and activist.
During the 2016 campaign, my wife and I hosted many events including phone banks, canvassing, voter registration, debate watch parties, parades, meetings, and volunteer training. Thanks to the efforts of the hundreds of people we met over the course of that year, we made an impact in that election. The capstone at the end of the 2016 campaign was being elected to represent CD-05 at the DNC in Philadelphia, where I cast our district’s vote for Bernie Sanders. Now I find myself re-energized and active in 2020, and I wish to be your delegate again to make Bernie Sanders the Democratic nominee who will defeat Donald Trump.
On March 3rd, please vote for Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination and Patrick and Jessie Doyle as your delegates. #DoylesForDelegates
Are you running as a delegate for a Democratic candidate or as a Democratic Uncommitted delegate? Share your story with the Left in Alabama community and ask for votes. Too often, people just see a list of delegate candidates and randomly select a few names. But these delegates represent YOU at the convention! They vote on the platform and they vote for the nominee. Give them a reason to vote for you!
