I’m Cindi Cassis Branham of Huntsville, and I humbly ask for your vote to send me to the Democratic National Convention as an Uncommitted Delegate, Congressional District 5. I have been politically active for many years. Along with volunteering with several political organizations, I have worked on the campaigns of many candidates, and most of them have won and are serving today.
You join me – I know – in realizing the importance that we field a presidential ticket that can beat Trump. In my strategic approach to this, I’ll be voting for the person I feel can most strongly go up against the people who are destroying our country.
Here’s another reason why it’s important to me that we elect a Democrat to the White House: I’ve spent nearly my whole life working and advocating for the rights of women, girls, and the oppressed. I know I don’t have to explain to you how these two reasons are related: our rights are diminishing before our eyes thanks to elected state legislatures, Congress, and Supreme Court rulings, and because the current president is on a rampage against all rights.
I want women and girls to have access to a quality education and to experience equality and equity in every aspect of their lives. I want everyone to be able to vote with ease. I want all of us to feel safe in our homes and on the street. I want people who work full time to earn a living wage that takes them off government support. I want to see the return of the Middle Class. All in my lifetime!
Here’s why I do what I do: a piece of verse, written about the progressive removal of rights – and lives – comes to mind every time I think about doing nothing about an injustice:
“First they came for ______, and I did nothing because I wasn’t a ______…
…then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me.”
Now, for the shameless list of organizations relevant to the reasons you should vote for me (and I’ve been active in every one of them – this is not just a resume list for me): I’m a member of the Madison County Democratic Executive Committee (MCDEC) and serve as Communications Committee chair, a position that keeps me busy daily.
As proof of my active commitment to Democratic principles and the success of Democrats in the State of Alabama and the country, I serve in many roles in different organizations:
- Member of Digital Communications Alliance of Alabama (DCA)
- Alabama Democratic Reform Caucus (ADRC)
- Women’s Economic Development Council (WEDC)
- American Association of University Women (AAUW) Huntsville Branch
- Alabama Arise
- Alabama Reproductive Rights Advocates (ARRA), where I serve as Director of Political Outreach.
Please vote March 3. Here’s how it works by example:
- Vote for Elizabeth Warren – select up to 5 delegate candidates pledged to Warren.
- Vote for “Uncommitted” – select up to 5 delegate candidates pledged Uncommitted.

Are you running as a delegate for a Democratic candidate or as a Democratic Uncommitted delegate? Share your story with the Left in Alabama community and ask for votes. Too often, people just see a list of delegate candidates and randomly select a few names. But these delegates represent YOU at the convention! They vote on the platform and they vote for the nominee. Give them a reason to vote for you!
Visit our post “Are You Running for a DNC Delegate Spot in 2020? Let us Help!” to learn how to submit your story and the rules/guidelines. We’ll share all articles on our social media and you can use them to promote your candidacy.
