Hi! My name is Allison Brock and I’m running for DNC Delegate in Congressional District 5 in support of Elizabeth Warren. As a seventh generation Alabamian, I love my state and my country and want to see a bright future. I think Senator Warren is the best candidate for President because her plans benefit everyone instead of a select portion of the population.
Firstly, I completely agree with her stance on student loan debt cancellation. Senator Warren has proposed forgiving up to $50,000 in student loan debt. According to National Public Radio forgiving student debt would simulate the economy. As someone plagued with student loans, I know firsthand the setbacks of having loans. If loans could be forgiven, it could stimulate the housing market.
This leads me to my next point: make college free. When I was a student, seeking both my undergraduate and graduate degrees, cost of attendance went up every year. In response, you could just borrow more money. If tuition were free, like Senator Warren has projected, it would give students in underprivileged families an opportunity to get a degree and social classes (low, medium, high) wouldn’t be separated as badly. This could be step in the goal of eradicating poverty!
I support Senator Warren’s policies on Medicare for all and lowering drug costs. I work in a healthcare setting and have met many people who had to get a second job to pay for their cancer treatments or diabetes medications. No one should have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars each month just to stay alive! This is a national problem that needs to be fixed. By lower drug costs, we could stay healthier and live longer.
Further, I completely agree that we abortion should be legal. Women’s rights and healthcare has always been tossed aside by the GOP. I’m ready for a woman President (named Elizabeth Warren) to fight for women’s rights. While abortion is a controversial subject, the government has no place getting involved. Those decisions should be left to the woman and her doctor.
Senator Warren’s ultra-millionaire tax is one of her best ideas. The 2% wealth tax above $50 million could pay for student loan forgiveness, free college, Medicare for all, and universal childcare with money left over. I can only imagine how much better our lives would be if we lived in a country that valued healthcare and education over money. Taxing the ultra-wealthy is a great in improving our country.
