I called Mo Brooks office and left word that I wanted him not to repeal the ACA. They sent me an email detailing why he was voting to repeal and replace.
This is my reply to my AL-05 Congressman:
Dear Congressman Brooks:
As a mother and an individual that will be directly negatively affected by the repeal of the ACA, I have to say that I wouldn’t wish the fear and dread I am feeling on your beloved mother, Betty.
And it must be upsetting for Betty to THINK that she reared a kind, compassionate, well-rounded, thoughtful child and then be confronted by this horrible reality. A son who has become a bitter, hostile, sanctimonious, close-minded man-child who holds the lives of her neighbors and his constituents in his tight-fisted hands.
You claim to have met with many constituents who tell you horror stories regarding their ACA experience. However, if you would stop the very selective “representation” of your constituency, you would hear constituents’ pre-ACA horror stories and even more people begging you not to repeal it now.
The ACA was not passed with nearly the speed or lack of oversight that this repeal is rocketing thru the House Chamber. It is unconscionable that you could expect the general public to be pleased that their will is being denied while you are smugly satisfied with the outcome. But not satisfied enough to forgo ACA coverage for yourself and your staff and accept this garbage that passes for “healthcare” like the rest of us.
In 2009, Speaker Ryan claimed that the speed of passing Obamacare was too fast, that he didn’t know what was in the legislation, and called it a “legislative Trojan horse.” If the AHCA isn’t a legislative Trojan horse, what is it? A steaming dumpster fire?!?
I like to think of it as the legislation that ended your political career for good. The piece of legislation that makes you unwanted and untouchable. The legislation that leads to your forced retirement.
So far, you have spent most of your time as a career politician intent of passing judgment on those you deem unworthy. I’m not quite sure where your moral superiority stems from, but it certainly is not based on reality or facts!
You do not have the professionalism to be elected and govern as a dog catcher! I hope you are never elected in any capacity ever again and your political career ends in scandal befitting Anthony Weiner!
