Montgomery Mayoral Election - Vote Tuesday March 10!

Montgomery residents will be voting for a new mayor tomorrow -- that's Tuesday March 10.  Polls are open 7 am to 7 pm and if you live in Montgomery you need to GO VOTE!  Here are your choices:

• Mayoral executive assistant Michael Briddell is outgoing Mayor Bobby Bright's pick for the job.

• District 6 City Councilman Willie Cook.

• Department of Veteran's Affairs employee Jon Dow.

• Montgomery native and law enforcement officer Jay King.

• County Commission Chairman Todd Strange.  Elected as a Republican, Strange has the big money in this race and he's also hired the big political talent.

• Businessman and developer  Scott Simmons.

I don't pretend to be any sort of expert on local Montgomery politics, but I'll go out on a limb and say that Todd Strange will be the top vote getter tomorrow -- money does talk, after all -- but will not get to the 50% +1 mark needed to avoid a runoff.  Briddell will finish second because the endorsement of the -- popular? -- outgoing mayor means something too, especially in terms of voter turnout.
