David Day, regular Montgomery clinic protester and self-appointed “women’s health expert,” might get to add something else to his resume after yesterday – jailbird. Day shared this prediction with the dedicated group of clinic escorts who protect the clients of Reproductive Health Services in Montgomery.
It won’t be Day’s first brush with the law. He’s been caught trespassing (actually, he filmed himself doing it) and loves to get close to clinic windows and yell “babykiller!” at the women inside.
Even creepier, he has a history of death threats against one of the leaders of the escort group:
“For 3 weeks straight in December he made veiled death threats to me or he made generalized threats against the clinic. I called the FBI about this right before Christmas.”
On New Year’s Eve, and for a week after that, every time he saw me he made sure to repeat that he would never hurt me physically or harm me. Yesterday when he made the comment about the SWAT team, that came out of nowhere. We have no idea why he brought up a SWAT team or anything. I was sitting outside on the porch of the POWER House yesterday and he came over to blab to me about me dying. It was creepy & weird.”
Protests at the Montgomery clinic have been particularly intense during the last year. The city was the site of protests by an outfit called “Operation Save America.” They brought an assortment of misfits, convicted arsonists, and sex offenders to town to protest and listen to Roy Moore.
Alabama Reproductive Rights Advocates used the event as a successful fundraiser and collected over $3,000. Escorts have continued the project and regularly update the frustrated picketers with the totals. Protesters know that the more they misbehave, the more donations roll in.
The Montgomery group picked up that idea after the OSA event ended. They run the the “Pledge A Phrase” project that’s noted at the top of the sheet in the photo. Each time a picketer calls someone a “murderer,” says “be a man,” or assaults the peace of the neighborhood with a megaphone, they’re increasing the donation total for the other side.
The donations go to help keep the POWER House open in pro-choice hands. It’s next door to the Montgomery clinic and serves as a refuge for escorts and family members of clinic patients:
“We let small children come over with the patient’s companions because they’re not allowed in the clinic. But we can’t babysit for them, they have to be supervised by someone else. We also serve as the meeting space for Montgomery Pride United, a conglomeration of the various LGBT groups in Montgomery.”
When funds are available, they also help women with hotel and other expenses.

Here’s the TILT fundraiser link to make a one-time donation.
Or, more fun, you can help the POWER House make money off the bad behavior of David and his band of sidewalk screamers. Just choose your activity and check the weekly totals. They’re posted once a week on the POWER House Facebook page – the protesters all know that every shout and bad action results in more money for the clinic defender group. You don’t have to make a formal pledge, just check the totals and use the “Donate” button on the FB page.
