UPDATE: Rep. Palmer’s office has changed the location. The meeting will now take place at Hoover City Hall, 100 Municipal Drive 35216. Same date & time.
AL-05 Representative Mo Brooks only wants to book “private” meetings with constituents or conduct staged “telephone town halls” where calls are screened and hostile questioners muted. Meanwhile, AL-06 Congressman Gary Palmer has screwed his courage to the sticking sticking place and decided to face constituents in a public forum. In true Alabama GOP fashion, it’s happening at a shooting range.
From the Congressman’s announcement:
Rep. Palmer to Hold Town Hall
Birmingham, AL – Congressman Gary Palmer (AL-06) will host a Town Hall at Hoover Tactical Firearms on February 25th at 9AM. This event is open to the public and will afford the people of the Sixth Congressional District the opportunity to ask questions and share their opinion on current events with Congressman Palmer.
What: Town Hall
When: Saturday, February 25th at 9AM
Where: Hoover Tactical Firearms
1561 Montgomery Highway
Birmingham, AL 35216
NOTE: All Media wishing to attend must email Cate.Cullen@mail.house.gov no later than February 24th at 12PM to be credentialed for this event.
Kudos to Rep. Palmer for holding the meeting at a time when most people can attend.
Hoover Tactical Firearms has quite the reputation/history in Alabama political circles.
- In 2016, they hosted a contentious GOP US Senate “debate” event where “special guests included the police.”
- In 2012, the Alabama Republican Party held their “2012 victory party” at the facility, because nothing says “fun” like mixing guns and alcohol.
But nevertheless, Rep. Palmer is stepping up. Maybe he can talk some courage into “Chicken Mo” and his other Alabama Representatives.
